Open heart, open mind, curious and making absolutely no plans.

We go back to moments in time that serve us.
When we connect with all the moments on our timeline, we find our wholeness.

How time is not linear, and how it’s not supposed to be.
What if everything - creativity, beauty, chaos and order - were happening now, in a glorious timelessnesss?

How to experience this online exhibition

Let the music tracks, which inspired each individual painting, take you on a magical journey.
Each painting is connected to the next one, and slowly a story is revealed. But by all means, absorb it in your own way…

“A painting is music you can see, and music is a painting you can hear.” - Miles Davis

And so the story begins..

Beginning of 2020, I decided this year would be “my year”.
Little did I know what was in store for all of us…

Back then I decided to change many different things in my life, so-called bad habits. I also decided it was time to come out with my art and stop hiding behind art classes.

2020 was unearthing - a year of self-discovery, a year where I realised that ‘settling’ wasn’t good enough.

Feeling alive - through heartbreak & goodbyes, but equally through new experiences. I realised that the way we connect with other humans, IS our most precious possession.
Honest-ly, personal-ly, through touch & feel.

Barberini Faun,

“Your mind and your experience call to me
You have lived and your intelligence is sexy
I want to know what you got to say.
You think like a whip on a horse's back
Stretched out to the limit, you make it crack
Send that horse round and round the track
I want to know what you got to say.”

And so expectations were created,
and it is always a hard thing to compete with an illusion.

Multiple and multiple layers of paint, wet in wet, dry on wet, charcaol, gesso, anything really to test the boundaries of what a paper support can endure. The paper ends up being torn, damaged…. blasphemy 😆.

Just like humans, the paper bears the scars of becoming the painting.
Is the value of a painting only determined by its perfection?
Or is it equally determined by the layers, good intentions, emotions we bleed into it?

“I thought becoming myself
Was improving each part
Piece by piece
But it was finding
A hidden wholeness
Seeing the fractures
As the design”

“Sometimes you get what you want.

Other times, you get a lesson in patience, timing, alignment, empathy, compassion, faith, perseverance, resilience, humility, trust, meaning, awareness, resistance, purpose, clarity, grief, beauty and life.

Either way, you win.”

Even if you burn your wings, and fall,

it’s all worth it.
I would do it all over again, in exactly the same way.
Would you?

Testing the resistance of watercolour paper: >10 layers of watercolour, charcoal, pastel, pencils, acryl… blending an illustrative style with a more rugged, way of defining shapes. With each interaction there’s the risk of tearing it, damaging it and loosing the work and love you’ve put into your creation. But hey, “No pain, no gain” 🤨😆.

“If you are going to try,
Go all the way.
Otherwise, don’t even start… ”

Good company

or the music inspiration… each song belongs to a painting or was it the other way around?
